Graveside services for Mrs. Carolyn Sue Pettit, 87, of Crossett, AR, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 2, 2022, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA. Mrs. Carolyn Sue Pettit was born on August 23, 1934, in Monroe, LA to Bill and Zora Minor, and passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022, in Arcadia, LA. Mrs. Pettit attended Ouachita High School before marriage to James P. Pettit. She was a very loving and committed housewife and homemaker for their two boys, Randy and Scott Pettit. They later moved to Crossett, AR where James took a business opportunity that enabled him to build a home and family for their future. Both Carolyn and James were members of First United Methodist Church and became very active in their new community. Carolyn and James were championship golfers as James became President of their country club, and she was head of the Women’s Golf Association. Mrs. Pettit was vey involved in both of her sons’ hobbies by taking on leadership roles in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, music and sports. Mrs. Pettit was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Zora Minor; son, Randy Pettit; and grandson, William Christopher Pettit. Survivors include her loving husband of 72 years, James P. Pettit; her son, Scott Pettit and wife Linda; sister, Gay Richie; daughter-in-law, Peggy Pettit; grandchildren, Amanda Currier, and Rikki LeMere; niece and nephew, Tod Richie and Susan Richie; and great grandchildren, Eric Currier, Evan Currier, Brianna Currier, and Emily LeMere. Honorary pallbearers will be David Coyne, Tod Richie, Don Davis, and Gary Rodgers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
