Age 79, of Hanover Township, passed away at Henry Ford Jackson on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. John was born in Jackson, Michigan on Saturday, September 12, 1942 to the late Charles N. Short and Ruth N. (maiden-Hatch) Eckard. He is survived by his step-mother; Nancy Short, four children; Melonie (Patrick) Murray, Lisa (Scott) Bradley, Mark (Wendy) Short and Cynthia (Brad) Bowden, grandchildren; Natalie Fitzpatrick, Joseph Murray, Collin, Zachary, Kelsea and Grant Bradley, Aubrey (Chris) Holda, Alexa (Ryan) Peruski, Jackson, Blake and Parker Bowden, great-grandchildren; Jayden Frasure, Carlie Fitzpatrick and Quinn Holda, sisters; Beth (John) Coval and Clara (Jerry) Williams, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister; Susan Bierman. John had worked at Kelsey-Hayes and retired from MacSteel (Quanex) as an industrial machine repair expert. He graduated from Vandercook Lake High School in 1961. Through his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars and tractors. His pride and passion was attending and supporting his grandchildren’s many sporting and school events. Services will be held at the funeral home Monday, May 2, 2022 at 11 am with Pastor Larry Rubingh officiating. Interment Horton Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home Sunday evening 5-8 pm.
