Andrew Mario Olivieri Obituary

Andrew Mario Olivieri, a 50-year resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of Tarrytown, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 78.

Son of the late Antonio and Anna (Anelli) Olivieri, he was born in Tarrytown on August 6, 1943. Andrew worked at the General Motors Assembly Plant in North Tarrytown for 34 years, retiring in 1998. Following his retirement from G.M., he worked for Viscount Wines & Liquor in Wappingers Falls, a job he enjoyed for many years, which was like a second family to him, and he especially liked helping the customers.

He was a former volunteer firefighter for Washington Engine Co. in Tarrytown and enjoyed countless hobbies such as gardening, playing cards, word search puzzles, and weekly lotto. Andrew loved fishing, most especially those times he was joined by his daughter. He looked forward to his daily morning calls from his son. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan. More than anything, he cherished spending time with his loving family and socializing with his friends.

On December 5, 1964, he married the love of his life whom he met at the age of 14, Madeline (Volino) Olivieri at Immaculate Conception Church in Sleepy Hollow. Madeline survives at home in Wappingers Falls.

Additional survivors include his son, Andrew Olivieri of Fort Wayne, IN; his daughter, Anne Marie Zablocki & her husband James of Wappingers Falls; and his siblings-in-law, whom he was extremely close to Anna Volino and Frances & Antonio Alves. Andrew is also survived by many nieces & nephews, including Angela Fiore, Anthony Fiore and Paul Fiore; and especially Michael Todd, whom he loved as a son, along with Michael’s wife Cate and their children Evan & Zoe who brought a sparkle in his eyes. He also leaves behind countless friends, especially his longtime neighbor and close buddy, Brian.

In addition to his parents, Andrew was predeceased by his brother, Frank Olivieri & his wife Edna; his sister, Josephine Fiore & her husband Peppino; and his sister-in-law, Marion Todd who was like a little sister to him.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 1 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 2 at St. John Paul II Maronite Church at Immaculate Conception, 199 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow.
