Todd Phillip Smith, 54, of Glenview, Illinois passed away unexpectedly on April 27, 2022. A memorial service will be held Sunday May 8, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. A celebration of life will follow at the University Heights Courtyard Marriott, 901 Melrose Avenue, Iowa City until 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Todd’s daughters request that memorial donations may be directed to The University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. Todd was born Thursday, April 25, 1968 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and joined his parents, Gary Smith and Pam Smith. He grew up in Cedar Rapids, graduating from Linn-Marr High School in 1986. During those high school years, he was a talented golfer but more important to Todd were the lifelong endearing friendships he treasured. He attended the University of Iowa, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Marketing. Todd then earned his Master’s of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from Tippie College of Business. During those years and within those walls, Todd developed his entrepreneurial skills. Todd cherished everything about the University and Iowa Hawkeyes and if you needed him during a football or basketball game, you were out of luck. Todd spent the early part of his career in the corporate world working in Nashville, Tennessee, where he met his wife Chrissie. They relocated to Michigan, where they raised their daughters; Allison and Emma. Todd shifted gears to honor his entrepreneurial spirit by starting a successful Marketing INC 500 Agency followed by other Venture Capital endeavors. Todd’s accomplishments and honors are too numerous to list but are a true testimony of the brilliant and goal-oriented man that he was. Todd had the magical ability to connect with, and impact anyone he encountered. He was the keeper of an extraordinary heart. Todd was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and firm understanding of what was important -- the simplicity of living a life with those you love. If you knew Todd, you knew he was larger than life and could find humor in any situation. The number of lives he has touched is endless and the loss of Todd will forever leave a void. He wanted to see others succeed in life. His presence will be missed by people all over the country. Of all the people he touched, his most proud achievement in life was being the proud father to his two daughters, Allie and Emma. Todd leaves behind his loving daughters Allison Elizabeth and Emma Jane, and their mother Chrissie Smith, all of Bloomfield Hills, MI; his father Gary D. Smith of Cedar Rapids, IA; his mother Pamela J Smith of Anamosa, IA; his sister Tiffany L Smith of Glen Ellyn, IL; his beloved nephew Alex D. Krug of Glen Ellyn, IL, and numerous aunts, uncles and family who all miss him dearly.
