Jean S Miller Obituary

JEAN STROUP MILLER passed away on April 27, 2022, and is survived by her sister-in-law, Laverne Kelvington-Stroup, nephews David and Steve, many cousins, and loving friends. She was a graduate of Oberlin College, wrote and directed an operetta and worked for the New York Metropolitan Opera. She performed in HMS Pinafore on Broadway. Later she moved to Chicago where she worked as a Graphic Designer. Her love of music and her great talents with guitar and voice led her to Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music and the "Cherry Bombs" band. Eventually she moved on to pursue her love of gourmet cooking and opened her own Personal Chef company "Your Place for Dinner". Using her gift of design and love of knitting she created and sold many pieces for infants and adults...even wall hangings. Jean was a wild one...an opera singer and rock an' roller all in the same great person. She was our friend, so alive and wonderful, a delight in all the days we had with her and will be greatly missed.

“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, “Wow what a ride!”
