<p style="text-align: justify;">Carl (Dean) Carter, 84, of Hayesville, died Wednesday, April 27, 2022. In accordance with his wishes his body has been cremated. A grave side service will be held 11:00 am, May 13, 2022 at Ollie Cemetery.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Dean was born June 8, 1937, in Ollie Iowa. He was the youngest son of Alva Carter and Loletta Estes Carter. He grew up on a farm outside of Ollie and graduated from Ollie High School in 1956. Dean was drafted by the US Army and was enlisted for two years. During his enlistment, Dean was part of President Kennedy&rsquo;s honor guard. Dean spent over 30 years as a heavy equipment construction operator for IUOE Local 234 out of Des Moines.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">He married Paulette (Polly) Adams July 23, 1966&nbsp;in Sigourney. Dean and Polly along with their two daughters Yvonne and Julie, lived in Lancaster several years before moving to Hayesville.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Dean is survived by his wife Polly; daughter, Yvonne Pitsch (Tony) of Sigourney; daughter Julie Anderson (Rob) of Des Moines; two grandchildren: Nicole Chestnut (Ben) and Amanda Griffin (Sean); four great grandchildren: Owen, Deckard, Caulder and Liam. One brother, Robert (Bob) Carter of Ollie.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by brother, Marvin Carter in 2007, sister Madeline Marshall in 2010, sister Shirley Crafton in 2021 and their&nbsp;beloved dog Tipper.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family</p>
