Edward “Mac” McIntosh Street Obituary

Edward “Mac” McIntosh Street, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on April 27, 2022 at the age of 74. He is the beloved husband of 49 years to Nanette Vliet Street; cherished father of Patrice Clark (Rick), Scot Street (Desiree), and Andrew Street (Jennifer); proud grandfather of Caroline, Camille, Parker, Bella, Adelaide, and Cole; and loving brother of Ted Street and Jane Gorden.

Mac was born on February 27, 1948, in Parris Island, South Carolina, to the late Richard M. Street and Jane Eddins Street. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Southeastern University. He was employed with Slidell High School for 30 years, where he taught Social Studies and three years in catholic school. He truly loved his profession and touched the lives of many with his gift of teaching. In 1998, he gratefully received a donated kidney. In his spare time, Mac enjoyed traveling, reading, and cooking but treasured nothing more than the time he spent with family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A Funeral Mass officiated by Father Edward Grice will begin in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Mac will be laid to rest in Saint Joseph Abbey Cemetery with a private graveside service at a later date.
