Donald “Petey” Kane, 83, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.

Mr. Kane was born on March 12, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Patrick and Rose Kane. Petey relocated to Staten Island, where he resided with his wife for 30 years. In 2006, they relocated and settled to Somerset, NJ.

Petey honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, having attained the rank of Specialist. Petey proudly served his community for 27 years as the Captain of the New York Fire Department-Ladder 148. He was a parishioner of St. Claires Church in Staten Island and St. Mattias Church in Somerset. Petey was also a member of the Emerald Society in Brooklyn. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed watching Fox News and loved following politics. Petey was also economical and incredibly proficient in finances.

Petey was predeceased by his brother, Leonard "Red" Kane; his sisters, Patricia Keenan, Jeanne Kane, Margaret Aquino, and Nancy Keeley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy Kane; his brother, Arnold Kane; his sisters, Moreen Poehlemann, and Lucille Giordano; his loving dog, Gigi and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Family and friends may visit on Saturday, April 30th from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. and on Sunday, May 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, May 2, 2022, at St. Matthias Church in Somerset, NJ. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island, NY.
