Allen Paytes

Allen L. Paytes, 67, of Eddyville, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 7:35 p.m. April 26, 2022 at Northern Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa. He was born May 10, 1954 in Ottumwa to Barnie B. and Mary Lou Roberts Paytes. He married Patricia Ann “Patti” Salter on October 8, 1994 and she preceded him in death on December 19, 2013. A graduate of Ottumwa High School, he had worked at Clow Valve Foundry in Oskaloosa. Allen loved fishing, hunting and working with leather. Surviving is his brother, Dennis (Linda) Paytes of Dunnellon, FL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Linda Ott and Nancy McNabb. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 6th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. For those unable to attend the service, you may watch it live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service on Friday, May 6th. Memorials may be made to the family.
