Arlene May Drews Obituary

Arlene May Drews, 89, peacefully went to her Heavenly Home and into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Appleton Medical Center. Arlene was born on May 31, 1927 to Frank and Freda (Berndt) Kellerman at home. She and her twin brother Arlyn were baptized at home and she was confirmed at Grace Lutheran in Winchester. Arlene attended Mikesville School, graduated from Neenah High School in 1945 and the Oshkosh State Teachers College in 1947. She taught from 1947 until 1952 at the Royer, Mathison, and Skeleton Bridge Schools. On June 3, 1950 she was united in marriage to Arlen Drews at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Winneconne. Arlene worked at HC Prange in the cash office and later at AAL until her retirement, when she and Arlen moved to their log home which they built in Waupaca. She volunteered over 5000 hours at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King and was a very active blood donor. Arlene was active in the Valley Lutheran Chorale, the Fox Valley Lutheran Ladies Guild, Winchester Historical Society, a cook at Camp Bird and enjoyed sewing for family and friends. She was a member of St Matthew in Appleton and Immanuel in Waupaca and Greenville, where she was active in choir, handbells, and Ladies Groups where she always brought her lemon bars. Arlene is survived by four children; Arlyss (Eric) Troge, Germantown, Wendy (Michael) Malone, Pinehurst, North Carolina, Rollin (Colleen) Drews, Appleton, and Darby (Stan) Hintz, Beaver Dam, nine grandchildren; Sarah (David) Micheel, Samuel (Laurie) Troge, Joel (Carly Benkov) Troge, Adam Malone, Matthew (Erin) Drews, Tanya (Chad Reuschlein) Drews, Kelly (Derek Wolff) Drews, Caleb (Lauren) Hintz and Josiah Hintz, nine great grandchildren; JD, Ruben, Jee Hoon, Hyunjae, Lucy, Lena, and Caleb Micheel, Cohen Troge, and Micah Drews, a sister Carolyn Peapenburg, and sisters-in-law, Mildred Marks and Joyce Kellerman, and Arline Kellerman, a brother-in-law, Alvin Larson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arlen, her brothers Glen, Arlyn, and Delwin and sisters, Carol and Wilma. The celebration of her Christian life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 12:00 PM at IMMANUEL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, W7265 School Rd., Greenville with Pastor John Qualmann officiating. A casual light lunch will be available during the visitation at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
