Larry Kirby

Larry Wilbur Kirby, 86, of Moulton, Iowa passed away on April 25, 2022 at MercyOne in Centerville, Iowa. Larry was born on January 28, 1936 in Rural Moulton, Iowa to Leslie and Florence (Howard) Kirby. He attended Moulton-Udell High School, graduating in 1955. Larry was in the army from July 6, 1955 to July 17, 1958 and then went on to work for John Deere for 30 years as a test mechanic. Larry married the love of his life, Dorothy Jackson on August 29, 1958 and to this union came seven children: Velma, Christine, Leslie, Barb, Sandy, Dale, and Richard. Larry enjoyed spending his time with his family and wood working. You could often find him outside working on tractors and building his own equipment. Larry loved to watch birds and deer outside. Left to cherish Larry’s memory is his wife: Dorothy Kirby, his children: Velma Crawford (Dave), Christine Birkett, Leslie Morris (Mark), Barb Comstock (Jim), Sandy Kirby (Lane Schindler) and Dale Kirby (Cindy), a brother: Delbert Kirby, an aunt: Maxine Brunsman, 20 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Larry is preceded in death by his parents: Leslie and Florence Kirby, a son: Richard Kirby, siblings: Jerry Kirby, Pete Kirby, Iris McNamer, Dode Lamb, Erma Boss and Jean Spurgeon, a nephew: Kyle Lamb and a great-grandson: Dalton Alexander. Cremation has been accorded and the funeral service for Larry will be held on May 2, 2022 at 10:30AM at Thomas Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa. A luncheon will be held at 11:30AM at Crossline in Moulton. Visitation will take place an hour prior at 9:30AM.
