<p><strong>John Nicolas Capella</strong>, 89, of Noblesville, IN passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital &ndash; Indianapolis. He was born on November 25, 1932 to John and Clara Capella of Cleveland, Ohio.</p> <p>John attended Collinwood High School in Cleveland, Ohio where he was the school&rsquo;s all-time leading scorer in basketball.&nbsp; He was also a standout baseball player. He was awarded a basketball scholarship from Ohio University where he received a BS degree in Journalism in 1955.&nbsp; Soon after graduating from college, John joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country. John married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Shishkoff and they began their married life together in Cocoa Beach, Florida where he was stationed. John and &ldquo;Pat&rdquo; shared a beautiful life together for almost 60 years.</p> <p>John started and ended his 35-year career (unusual these days) with GM&rsquo;s Chevrolet Division where he held various Zone Management positions in Metro Detroit, Philadelphia, and Indianapolis. When John retired from Chevrolet, he rediscovered his love of youth sports and joined the local referee circuit where he blew his whistle on many ball fields and courts throughout the greater Indianapolis area for over 30 years.</p> <p>He also became a teacher at Northwood University and Indiana Business College where he was the Business Dept. Chairperson. He helped countless students over his 15-year teaching career.</p> <p>John&rsquo;s greatest pride and joy was his family. John is survived by his son, John (Anne) Capella; daughter, Janice (John) Specht; daughter, Lisa (Rich) McDonald; granddaughters, Christi and Marissa McDonald; and grandsons, John and Nick Capella.</p> <p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia; and his brothers, Donald Capella and Bob Capella.</p> <p>John Capella was a kind and gentle man with a warm and friendly personality. He was our true north star and he taught us to look for the good in people and to encourage within ourselves, those gifts that make each of us special: not star power, not intellectual prowess, but the extraordinary beauty of the simple human heart.&nbsp; We will always feel his presence in our hearts.</p> <p>Visitation will take place from 9:45 AM thru 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, May 11th at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 E. 191st Street, Noblesville, IN 46060. A short service will begin at 12:00 Noon followed by a luncheon at the church. Obituary

John Nicolas Capella, 89, of Noblesville, IN passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital – Indianapolis. He was born on November 25, 1932 to John and Clara Capella of Cleveland, Ohio.

John attended Collinwood High School in Cleveland, Ohio where he was the school’s all-time leading scorer in basketball.  He was also a standout baseball player. He was awarded a basketball scholarship from Ohio University where he received a BS degree in Journalism in 1955.  Soon after graduating from college, John joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country. John married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Shishkoff and they began their married life together in Cocoa Beach, Florida where he was stationed.
