Fitchburg – David E. Smith, 72, of Fitchburg, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022, in Fitchburg Healthcare following a period of declining health.
David was born on December 27, 1949, a son of the late Coy and Hyla (Rivard) Smith.
David served in the military, having achieved rank of Sergeant in the US Army. He fought in Vietnam, earning a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, a Vietnamese Campaign Medal and two Overseas Service Bars.
David was predeceased by his wife, Susan J. (Normandin) Smith in 2016.
David will be missed by his friend Jeffrey Goodman of Fitchburg, as well as many neighbors and friends.
Burial with Military Honors will be held in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 11:00AM.
