Harold “Dean” Seltzer, 87 of Montrose, IA, died Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Sunset Home in Quincy, IL. Harold “Dean” Seltzer, 87 of Montrose, IA, died Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Sunset Home in Quincy, IL. He was born on June 23, 1934 in Versailles, IL, the son of Robert Jacob and Carrie (Hall) Seltzer. He graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1952. Dean first married Audrey Mae Vice and to this union were born three children, Harold, Robert and Angela. She preceded him in death. He later married Sharon Kay Fox and to this union one child was added, Rhonda. Sharon also preceded him in death. Dean was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk. He first was employed by Frank Wentzel Plumbing and went on to own and operate Keokuk Plumbing and Heating for many years. He also had been employed at Keokuk Water Works until his retirement. Dean enjoyed fishing, working on jigsaw puzzles and welding. He was a talented metalworker and made custom metal hearts personalized with family names. He was also a skilled woodworker and enjoyed making birdhouses and feeders. He is survived by his four children, Harold W. Seltzer (Tami) of Quincy, Robert G. Seltzer of Keokuk, Angela S. Seltzer-Welch of Keokuk and Rhonda Wharton (Benjamin) of Florida, eight grandchildren, K.C. Nye, Kari Ann Seltzer, Robert Seltzer, Eric Seltzer, Jenny Skinner, Amber Mann, Ethan Wharton and Marc Wharton, eighteen great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Besides his wives, he was also preceded in death by one grandson, Benjamin Wharton, one sister and her husband, Doris and Bud LeMaster, a son-in-law, William Welch and a daughter-in- law, Cathy Seltzer. A Memorial service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday May 7, 2022 at the First Christian Church in Keokuk with Pastor David Turner officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:30 am – 12 noon at the church with family meeting with friends at that time. Memorials may be made to Camp Eastman.
