Clinton Andrew Ridenour Obituary

Clinton Andrew Ridenour, 85, of Kingwood, WV, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at his home with family by his side.

Clinton was born April 9, 1937, in Kasson, a son of the late Archie Lenard and Edna Mae (Loar) Ridenour.

He graduated from Rowlesburg High School in 1956. He was a coal miner for 30 years until his retirement in 1990. Clinton was an active member of the Kingwood, Otterbein United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and was a Sunday School teacher. Then much of his time was spent hunting, fishing, camping, watching NASCAR, traveling and gardening with his beautiful wife of 65 years, and his children and grandchildren. As his health deteriorated, when asked the question “Can I get anything for you?”, his answer was always, two new lungs, as he smiled. His favorite remaining pets were their kitty, Sweet Pea and His grand doggie Mikey, who became his best bud when he located a turkey kill that got away.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly (Stevens) Ridenour; five children and spouses, Gary and Darla Ridenour, James and Tracy Ridenour, Leonard and Jeannie Ridenour, Kristin and Bobby Johnson, Karolyn and David Ruggles; 10 grandchildren, William and Rebecca Pastors, Daniele Higgins, Robert and Jackie Johnson II, Matthew Johnson, Wesley and Heidi Ridenour, Sonya and Pat Elliott, Whitney and Patrick Eisentrout, Tyler Ridenour, Tiffany Johnson, Trisha and Chris Koncheck; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sister, Clara Stevens and Phyllis Bolyard; one brother, Robert Ridenour; and one great-grandchild, Vaughn Johnson.

Friends may call at the Kingwood Funeral Home and Crematory, formerly Rotruck-Lobb Funeral Home, 295 South Price Street on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00pm; on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Lantz officiating. Entombment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family requests that memorial donations be made in Clinton’s memory to the Preston County Humane Society, P.O. Box 395, Kingwood, WV 26537.
