Ruby D. Horton Obituary

Ruby D. Horton was born on March 3, 1926 in Wrightsville, Georgia to the parentage of the late Horace and Maudie Lou Kelsey.  She was the second child of three beautiful daughters.

She graduated from Doc Kemp High School. At  an early age, she became a member of Brown Chapel of Wrightsville, Georgia.  On July 1, 1957, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Rev. E.J. Horton, Jr. and to this union they were blessed with three sons.

Sister Horton later joined Aberlena Baptist Church where  she served faithfully on the Mother Board until her health declined. She supported her husband as First Lady of several churches, Galilee Baptist Church, Lovette Grove Baptist Church, Smith Street Baptist Church and Eason Hill Baptist Church. Ruby was a very dedicated hard worker. She retired from Kmart after 26 years of service.

Ruby was a devoted wife and mother who loved cooking, walking, singing, and praising the Lord. She was a doting grandmother who loved spoiling her grandchildren.

On Thursday, April 14, 2022, Mrs. Horton departed this earthly life.  She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Sally Mae Gregory and Annie Mae Hines; two step grandchildren, Anthony and Jerome Reese.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Barbus (Quentice) Horton, Wade (Felicia) Horton of Macon, Georgia, Leslie (Angela)  Horton of Atlanta, Georgia; a stepdaughter, Louise Reese of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Vennis Horton of Atlanta, Georgia, Eugena Horton, Sheterica Watts of Macon, Georgia and Landon Simmons of Savannah, Georgia; two step grandchildren, Brenda Rowe of Alabama and Parythis Reese of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of nieces and nephews.
