Fernando Martins

It is with great sadness that the family of Fernando Martins announce that he passed away in his home in Brick, NJ on April 20th, 2022 at the age of 89 years old. He was born on January 29th, 1933 in Portugal and moved to the United States at 15 years old. He had lived in North Bergen before moving to Bricktown, NJ 20 years ago. Before his retirement in 1998, Fernando was a stationary engineer for Passaic County Sewerage authority in Newark. He was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima in North Bergen

Fernando, was a beloved husband, father, brother and Grandfather. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Anna Martins of 56 years and son Fernando Anthony Martins. He will be deeply missed by his four children, Nelson Martins and wife Carol of Wayne, Anna Miah and husband Jafar of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Suzanna Adamo and husband Alfred of North Haledon, and Linda Calabrese and husband Scott of Wyckoff. Fernando was an amazing grandfather to 10 granddaughters whom he cherished greatly - Amanda, Vanessa, Melissa, Jenna, Brianna, Sara, Emily, Lilly, Nicole and Jennifer and two great-grandchildren, Luca and Harper.

Family and friends may visit on Monday, April 25, 2022, from 3-7PM at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Funeral Mass on Tuesday at St. Elizabeth RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave. Wyckoff, NJ at 10:00AM with cremation to follow at Cedar Lawn Crematory Paterson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the American Cancer Foundation
