Estella Luevano Cano De La Torre

Stella Luevano Cano De La Torre, 70, left this world surrounded with family and friends at her bedside in the family home in Roswell, NM. She was born in Las Cruces, NM, October 1, 1951, to Cruz Luevano. Throughout her childhood life, she was welcomed in several foster homes and experienced Girl School in Albuquerque, NM. She would reminisce about her crazy childhood life and talk about it to her kids and grandkids every gathering.

Stella will be missed and remembered by her life partner, Francisco “Pancho” Rocha; her 5 children, Michael and Jolene Luevano of Roswell; Johnny “Corky” Ortiz and LeeAnn Espinoza of Roswell; Thomas and Jewels Leyba of Roswell; Virginia Martinez and Juan Moreno of Roswell; Sylvia Leyba of Roswell; her one and only brother, “Carnal” Carlos and Tere Luevano; her very best friend, Louisa Fuentez Ramirez; along with 22 grandkids, 23 great grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, etc.; and her beloved puppy “Chico”.

She was blessed raising 4 grandkids, Anastasia Ortega, Johnny Ray Ortiz, Adrian and Andrew Gonzales. Continuing to help raise 3 great grandbabies, Evalicia, Baby Nate, and Avangelique. She took in as her own kids: Chris “Yogi” Herrera, Rene Molina, and Frankie Archuleta.

She enjoyed having company and smoking her special cigarette. She left this world on her special date, 4-20.

Stella was welcomed through heaven’s gates by her father, Cruz Luevano; grandbabies, Nehemiah Luevano, Miguel Leyba Castillo; one great grandbaby, V’unique Lara; and son-in-law, Joe Paul Martinez.

A Visitation for Stella will be held at 2:00 - 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Ballard Funeral Home, with a Rosary following at 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Ballard Funeral Home. A family gathering will take place after the service at 1011 Rancho Rd.

Stella will be loved and missed by many.
