Helen Josephine (Csonka) Dahlgren was born Oct 10, 1934. She was the youngest of 13 children. She is preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Stephen, And Mary (Hallai)Csonka, her brothers Frank (Dorothy), Steve(Anna), John(Nellie), William(Edna), Joseph(Millie), Charles(Lucille),James(Barbara), Andrew, and Anthony Csonka. She is also preceded in death by her sisters Anne Baughman, Mary Jones, and Elizabeth Huhn. Helen was married to Charles Perry Dahlgren for 11 years and he passed in July of 1983. Helen is survived by her sons Charles S. Dahlgren of Massillon, OH, Daniel C. Dahlgren of Pokomoke City, MD. and her daughters Martha P. Dahlgren, and HelenMary Dahlgren of Middletown, OH, and Cynthia A. (Charles) Crowder of Canton, OH. She also is survived by her three grandchildren Dennis Jr., Samantha, and Josephine Crowder. She loved and was close to most of her 50+ nieces and nephews over the years. Helen attended St Mary's through high school. She pursued a career as a Registered Nurse following her graduation from Mercy school of Nursing in Toledo, OH. She worked in the PICU at Children's Hospital in Akron as well as in Surgery at Green Cross, Cuyahoga Falls, OH; St.Thomas, Akron, OH; Alliance City in Alliance, OH and Doctor's hospital in Massillon, OH. She spent several years working in North Carolina and Virginia during her early career. Helen worked in several Nursing homes in the Canton area before she retired in 1999. She spent her retirement babysitting for her grandchildren and visiting her children during the summers. She was a member of many catholic parishes over her life. Helen was a member of St Joseph in Canton, OH the longest at 30 years and served as a Eucharistic minister for many years. She also bred and raised Siamese cats for many years.
Helen passed away on Easter Sunday evening surrounded by her family.
The family will receive mourners Friday 5-7 pm at Anthony's Funeral Home on Main St. Akron, OH. A rosary will be said at Anthony's Funeral home Saturday 8:45 to 9:45 AM before the procession to the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St.Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Akron, Ohio. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Akron, OH. A Luncheon will follow interment in St.Mary's cafeteria.
