Barbara Peterson-Brewton was the daughter of Bobby Peterson and Beatrice Allen Peterson. Barbara was the first born of seven children, born on Monday, November 08, 1948 in Mobile, Alabama. Barbara transitioned from this earthly world to her heavenly abode on

Thursday, April 14, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. Barbara is survived by her only daughter, Iris Peterson-Fountain.

Barbara was educated in the Escambia County School District in Pensacola, Florida. Barbara started a lengthy career as a Civil Servant in the United States Federal Government under the Department of Treasury with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the Division of Human Resource Management in March 01, 1984.

Barbara retired on May 02, 2016 after over 32 years of Federal Government service.

Barbara is also survived by her two grandchildren Tyler Glenn Fountain and Anthony DeAngelo Fountain, II whom she loved very much and spoiled all the time, as well as her son-in-law Anthony D. Fountain, Sr..

Barbara’s other surviving family members are her sister Ann Phillips (George), Deborah Barr (Simon), and Michael Peterson (Lisa), a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bobby Peterson, Beatrice Peterson-Hartley and stepfather Charles Hartley and three siblings Sandra Patterson, Brenda Lambert, and Bobby Earl Peterson.

Barbara’s favorite pastime was spending time with family, cooking big dinners, reading, and watching classic movies. Barbara loved to cook, making the biggest messes in the kitchen; which in turns makes your mouth & mind fall deeply in love with every dish she placed on the table. Barbara was known for making the best ”Sweet Potato Pies” you would ever taste, she was the best cook ever! Every single dish she made was simply delightful to every person she enjoyed feeding! She also loved to conversate for many hours at a time either on the phone, but especially in person.

Barbara also loved shopping and was known for all day shopping excursions. Funny part is it could be for clothes because she loved fashion or the market buying lots of food for her wonderful meals.

Barbara was tough as nails, as all her sisters and brothers, and was known for being very straightforward. However, she was known more for having a huge and caring heart. Behind the confident and tough exterior was a heart of gold.

She was a confidant and helping hand for many family members, friends and strangers.

In addition, Barbara, even in bad health, would attempt to help anyone in need of assistance. It was a testament to the loving and helping spirit that lived inside of her even up until the very end of her wonderful life.

Barbara will be loved and missed always by many!
