JONAH MICHAEL SHEETS
Muscatine, Iowa - Jonah Sheets, 23, of Muscatine passed away on Tuesday, April 19th, 2022.

Funeral Service will be at 11am on Monday, April 25th, 2022, at the Ralph J Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Dan Schoepf will officiate. A graveside service will immediately follow the main service. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 24th, 2022, at the Ralph J Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home.

Jonah was born on May 4th, 1998, in Muscatine, the son of James Michael Sheets II and Mandy Jones Angotti.

Jonah was a fun-loving, kind-hearted, big kid that loved to joke around and really loved to put ketchup on EVERYTHING...including peaches. His love for strange foodie things carried over to a cooking style that his big sister describes as "interesting" but surprisingly yummy! But, what she enjoyed even more was Jonah's after-dinner entertainment that put his awkward dance moves on full display while washing dishes.

As a child, Jonah quickly picked up on all things, but when it came to music, it didn't take long to realize he was a prodigy. Jonah taught himself how to play the guitar, piano, and harmonica. Early on, Jonah and his mom had their own special song. He loved to hear his mom sing, My Little Baby Boy, by Andy Landers, to him over and over, again. As his skills grew, his dad recalls watching Jonah's private jam sessions while he mastered songs like Tracy Chapman's, Fast Car. Jonah's most skilled instrument was his voice. He was shy about having an audience, but when he sang while playing the keyboard or his guitar, friends and family couldn't help but to capture the "Jonah Concert" on their cell phones. Even though he kept playing, he didn't hesitate to give them "the look" to let them know he knew what they were up to!

Jonah's talents didn't stop at music. He loved to draw and would carry a notebook with him, taking advantage of each opportunity to do so. If you were lucky, he would share his drawings with you on Snapchat.

Jonah loved all outdoor activities. He loved to camp and fish at every opportunity. Jonah also loved spending time with his dad playing disc golf, shooting baskets, and even sleeping under the stars on the backyard trampoline. You could always find his stepmom supporting him in all his activities--from baseball to doing tricks on the diving board in the neighborhood pool.

Jonah loved to push it to the limit when it came to riding dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, and skateboards. His stepdad would watch with one eye open after Jonah would come grab him to show off a new dirt bike trick. And, where Jonah went, his skateboard went. He loved skateboard parks, but his eyes were always scanning for any surface he could use to hone his skills and show off his signature move, the Fakie Flip. Jonah was kind enough to teach his sisters some skateboard skills, too. Jonah's little sister never saw Jonah fall from a skateboard, but when she fell, he would help her up, telling her how proud he was of her and even shared his own skateboarding horror stories to make her feel better.

Jonah had a huge heart that was filled with compassion and a possessed a smile that would instantly lift your spirits. Jonah never hesitated to show his family and friends how much he loved them and how grateful he was for their support throughout the years. As sentimental and heart-felt, as Jonah was, he couldn't help but to insert humor in all of his interactions. His humor was definitely a gift, but during Jonah's school years, his teachers were pretty torn about how to handle it! Many teachers talked to his parents about how funny he was--but they just wish he would wait for a more appropriate time to share that humor!

Jonah will be deeply missed by his parents, James Sheets and wife, Faith, and Mandy Angotti and husband, Mark; three siblings, Jessie Sheets, Jovannah Angotti, and Devin Bender; grandparents, Mike and Jan Sheets, Dick and Sue Jones, James and Sherri Theado, and Blaine and Lynne Vawter; great grandmother, Freida Arndt; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, JoAnne and Dave Burkholder; great-grandmother, Bonnie Willis; and great-grandfather, Norman Bunn
