Julie Ann Wing Obituary

Julie Ann Wing, 61, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport, Iowa.

Mrs. Wing was born Julie Ann Wagemester on July 30, 1960, in Clinton, Iowa to John, Jr. and JoAnn (Kunde) Wagemester.  She graduated from Camanche High School in 1979 and went on to attend Mt. St. Clare College, earning her Associates in Business Administration. Julie married George "Rick" Wing, Jr. on May 3, 1986, at Sacred Heart Church in Clinton. The couple most recently resided near Elvira, where they operated the family farm.  Julie was a dedicated employee of The Alverno Health Care Facility for over 30 years, retiring in 2019.

Julie’s outlook on life was humbling; with a nurturing and gentle approach of making others feel loved and special.  She was never one to be outspoken, overbearing or hurtful.  Julie never asked for anything and lived a very simple and gracious life.

As a child, Julie enjoyed fishing with family.  She also enjoyed showing livestock for her local 4-H club and continued that passion by actively attending and participating in local and state fairs.  Julie loved to craft, sharing laughs around a campfire and especially looked forward to celebrating the Holidays.

Julie’s greatest treasure was her family; especially the various activities and life events of her children and grandchildren.  It was such a delight for her to bake brownies and cookies with Acre and Emerie.  Attending the Iowa State Fair with the entire family was a yearly highlight. Her door was always open and she was willing to help in any way she could.

Julie will be remembered as being honest and fair.  When faced with obstacles, Julie persevered without complaint.  Throughout her life she touched so many lives and will be dearly missed.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Rick of 35 years, her children Kelli (B J Jackson) Smith of Camanche and Jayson (Taylor Sullivan) Wing of Preston; grandchildren Acre Smith and Emerie Wing; a brother Tom (Marianne) Wagemester; sister-in- law Gala (Jim) Reed and several nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Richard, Sr. and Madonna Wing, and a brother-in-law, Gary Wing.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2022, at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022, in the church. Burial will follow at Elvira Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Wagemester, Jim Reed, Bob Fatchett, B.J. Jackson, Matt Rehr, Donny Schroeder, and Travis Schroeder.
