Nathan Henry Montgomery, 29, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 17, 2022 A celebration of Nathan's Life will be held Friday, June 17th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm at The Kirkwood Room, 515 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City. Nathan was born November 14, 1992 in Iowa City. He was a high school graduate and attended Kirkwood Community College. Nathan loved yard work; cooking; reading; writing; music; playing guitar, bass and violin; drawing and animals. He was a very kind and gentle person, very generous and an excellent big brother. Nathan had a great sense of humor and a knack for irony. He enjoyed political debates and had special concern for the environment and human rights. Nathan is survived by his parents, Jessie Henry (Roger Dale) and Robert Montgomery (Kathy Hansen); his brother Sam Montgomery; grandparents Lyell Henry (Gretchen Holt) and Grace Montgomery; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and extended family and friends. Nathan was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Montgomery. Nathan had a great love of trees. He loved to climb them, grow them and for a time provided tree work professionally. He enjoyed learning about tree species and sharing his knowledge with others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed in Nathan’s memory to Trees Forever, 80 West 8th Avenue, Marion, Iowa 52302 or online at www.treesforever.org.
