Fort Fairfield – Blair E. Adams, 70, husband of Shirley (Elliott) Amnott-Adams, passed away Monday morning April 18, 2022 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born October 16, 1951 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Fredrick V. and Alice (Albert) Adams.

Blair was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1970 and went on to serve his country with the United States Army for eleven years, including a combat tour in Vietnam with the 45th Engineers Group. Aviation Sector, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. Blair received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Air Medal, the First Class Hand Grenade Badge, the M-16 Sharpshooter Badge, the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Campaign Stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Overseas Service Bar. Blair was the commander of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield from 2016 to present, was a member of the Fort Fairfield American Legion Walter Lovely Post No. 27, the Perth-Andover Canadian Legion, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1954, Presque Isle. Blair was extremely patriotic and an avid supporter of all Veterans organizations. He worked extremely hard as commander of the Fort Fairfield VFW to ensure the Post’s survival and prosperity. Blair had been employed by the McCain Fertilizer Plant, Florenceville, New Brunswick for a number of years and worked for eleven years at Sitel, Loring Commerce Center, Limestone. Blair greatly enjoyed golf, and was an accomplished musician and guitarist who generously gave his gift of music to many and performed at countless funerals and memorial services.

In addition to his parents, Blair was predeceased by his first wife, Gertrude (Quinn) Adams on January 1, 2013. He is survived by his wife Shirley Amnott-Adams of Fort Fairfield; one brother and sister-in-law, F. Wayne and Linda Adams of Fort Worth, TX; five stepchildren, Kim Quinn Derrah of Sussex, New Brunswick, Lisa Bradley of Woodstock, New Brunswick, Allison Quinn and his wife Tammy of Centreville, New Brunswick, Jonathan Amnott and his companion Jamie Pratt of New Bedford, MA, Devin Amnott of Gilbert, AZ; one step-grandson, Henry Amnott of New Bedford, MA; two nephews, Brian Adams of Houston, TX, Timothy Adams of Fort Worth, TX; several great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday, April 25, 2022 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where a memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. by the officers of the Presque Isle Elks Lodge BPOE No. 1954, followed by a Celebration of Blair’s Life with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will take place at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield immediately following the service. Interment will take place at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou, at a later date.
