MADGELENE PALUMBO On Saturday, January 14, 2016 Madgelene (Swinney) Palumbo, age 83, born in Booneville, MS, formerly of Prince George's County, MD, went home to the Lord. Madge and her husband Carl just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 24, 2016. The couple spent most of their married life in Maryland and raised their four children. For the last 20 years, Madge and Carl retired and moved back to her birthplace in Booneville, Mississippi. Carl found that he loved the people and the church community as much as Madge. She enjoyed helping others in need. Madge also enjoyed gardening and watching birds in the yard. In her youth, she helped with the family farm milking cows and picking cotton. Madge played on her high school basketball team. Recruited as a high school senior by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and moved to Washington DC, to work for J. Edgar Hoover. She met her future husband in Washington, DC. Beloved wife of Carl Peter Palumbo; loving mother of Cathy Ashcraft (Joseph), Carla Mackay (Craig), Gary Palumbo and Mark Palumbo; adored grandmother of Justin Palumbo, Jessica Tierney, Christina Ashcraft, Steven DiMarzo; and cherished great grandmother of Matthew and Adriana; devoted sister of Neva Swinney Galins. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral service and interment will be held in Prentiss County, MS.
