Andre A. Lanoue Obituary

Andre Albert Lanoue, 94, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022 in his home following a long illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 21, 2022 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Charles Adam officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service is handling arrangements. Instead of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to St. Thomas More Church, Iowa City Hospice or St. Thomas More Knights of Columbus. Andre was born on December 12, 1927 in Aurora, Kansas the son of Albert and Fredoline (Desilet) Lanoue. Andre married Laura Ann Couture, they celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2009. Andre was employed with Northern Natural Gas from 1954 and transferred to Iowa City, Iowa in 1967 working at Hydro Carbon Transportation a substation of Northern. He transferred again in 1981 to Rockford, Illinois until his retirement in 1984. Andre joined the Knights of Columbus when he was 18 and remained an active member until 2017. He was an active member of the Legion of Mary in Iowa City from 1968 to 1981. He was always an active member in the church until 2010. Andre is survived by his children, Greg (Kim) Lanoue, Mary Sauers and Mike (Nancy) Lanoue; his brother Adrian (Georgia) Lanoue and sister, Janice (Dave) Johnson; ten grandchildren, eight great -grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Andre was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Laura, his son Gary, and his sisters Angeline, Rosella, Bella, Theresa, Evelyn, Imogene, Ann and his brother Eli.
