Linda Bauguss Bruner Stafford, 63, of Jewett, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2022, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Linda gave the Gift of Hope by being an organ donor.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Jewett Community Church from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A short service will be conducted by Pastor Leon Hanley at 7:00 p.m., with anyone wanting to tell a story about Linda afterwards. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo is assisting the family with arrangements.

Linda was born on November 8, 1958, in Effingham, the daughter of William “Bill” and Barbara Lee Cox Bauguss. She married James Allen Bruner on September 30, 1980; he preceded her in death on July 11, 2021. She married John Stafford on November 28, 2021.

Surviving is her husband, John Stafford of Jewett; her daughter, Misty Dawn Ervin (husband James) of Toledo; her grandchildren, Aja “Jay” (Alisa Clark) Bauguss of Jewett, Anika (Alex McGinnis) Ervin, Jakota Ervin, and Jasper Ervin, all of Toledo; sister, Billie (Wes) Chambers of Toledo; brothers, Mike (Sue) Bauguss and Tommy (DeeAnn) Bauguss, all of Greenup; special nieces, Chasity (Brian) Dunaway of Toledo and Tasha (Shay) Shaffer of Greenup; nephews Michael Bauguss Jr. of Casey, Davis Bauguss of Fairview Heights, Nicholas Bauguss of Greenup, Gustin Bauguss of Sigel, Levi Bauguss of Greenup, Dalton Bauguss of South Carolina, and Sammy Bauguss of Toledo; special great-niece, Liberty Dunaway of Toledo; special sister-in-law, Pat (Larry) Andrews of Willow Hill; stepchildren, Lori McQueen and Kyle Stafford; step grandchildren, Makista Brown, Brendan Gaston, Sierra McQueen, Madison McQueen, Kayli McQueen, and Chloe Garner; and one step great-grandchild, Ulani Chappel.

Linda was a 1976 graduate of Cumberland High School. She worked for, and retired from, ARC-CSS in Teutopolis after many years of service. She also worked at Wessell’s in Teutopolis, BP Station in Montrose, and at Ettelbrick Shoe Factory. Linda was a former EMT for the Toledo Ambulance Service, past President of the Toledo American Legion Auxiliary, current Secretary for Cumberland County Development Corporation, and current Trustee for the Village of Jewett. Linda was a past Homecoming Queen for the Jewett Homecoming.
