Kathleen Johnson Obituary

Kathleen Johnson, 78, passed away unexpectedly April 16, 2022, at her home.

Kathleen Ann Johnson, the daughter of John and Lucile (Evans) Reinhardt, was born February 4, 1944, in Estherville. She grew up in Maple Hill and attended Catholic grade school. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1962.

On November 30, 1974, Kathleen was united in marriage to Robert Johnson in Estherville. After they married, the couple lived and farmed in rural Terril. In 1990, they moved to an acreage south of Estherville. They made this house a home and had many great memories here.

Over the years, Kathleen worked at Hoye Drug, Donavon Motors, Emmet County State Bank, Dr. Baker Eyecare, and Fareway. Kathleen had a passion for animals and would welcome any pet that needed a home. She had a special gift for nursing them back to health. Her animals brought her great joy.

Kathleen was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Graettinger. She was a devout Catholic. Kathleen had a close bond with her cousin, Father David Hemann whom she admired very much.
She enjoyed reading, traveling with her brother John’s family, and volunteering at church. Most recently, she volunteered with Friendly Visitors of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Kathleen sent greeting cards for every occasion and always knew how to make others feel special. She treasured spending time with her family and close friends. She was especially close to her niece, Deb Clague and sister-in-law, Alice Ann Johnson. She loved staying connected with and hearing about Bob’s nieces and nephews.

To everyone in Estherville she was known as Kathleen or Kathy, but to her brother John’s family she was Aunt Kate. Family was important to Kate and she was always there to help with a smile and cheerful laugh. Kate was someone you could always depend on. No one knows this better than her brother John. She was his best friend and protector. Kate was there for vacations, holidays, and when illnesses struck. They had an amazing bond as siblings, talking every day. She was a best friend, remarkable sister, and now a guardian angel.

Left to cherish Kate’s memory are her brother John (Colleen) Reinhardt of Sergeant Bluff and his children Andrea Reinhardt, Matt (Heather) Reinhardt, and Megan (Alex) Pick, great niece Addison Reinhardt, and along with the extended Johnson Family.

She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
