Obituary

Sherlyn Marie Alexander was born in New Castle, Indiana November 20, 1961 and passed on March 27th, 2022 in Fairbanks, Alaska and was one of a kind.  Her name was a combination of her mother’s and grandmother’s names – Shirley and Evelyn became Sherlyn.  Sherlyn was also known as Sheri to friends and family and then Slicker to her softball/hockey teams.  Sheri’s favorite pastime was playing softball and hockey.  Hockey might have been one of the reasons she chose to stay in Alaska instead of moving down to the lower 48 to be near one of her siblings.

Sheri relocated to Alaska at the end of her high school career in Indiana and stayed there for her adult life. After high school she worked for a Toyota dealership and after several years, she decided to get her nursing degree.

Along the way she adopted her daughter Haley Brown, the pride of her life.  One of Sheri’s happiest days was the day the adoption was complete. Sheri was very proud of the young women Haley is becoming.

Sheri is survived by her mother Shirley and her father Thomas and is the oldest of 9 children.  She loved and maintained relationships with all of them as adults.  Sheri was smart, funny, had a sunny disposition and always let you know that you were loved.  Those of us who love her most already miss her.

RIP Sheri…..
