Bill Caldwell, Jr.

<p>William Guy Caldwell Jr. of York, South Carolina passed away on April 16,2022.</p> <p>Bill was born to the late Cynthia and Guy Caldwell in York, South Carolina on August 10,1945. He graduated from York High School in 1964.</p> <p>Left to cherish the memory of Bill are his cousins Dorothy Gettys of Rock Hill, Butch Adams of Gastonia, Hope Jones of York, Nancy Pugh of Simpsonville, Campbell Barnett of Clemson, Guy Smith of Clover, Charles Smith of Knoxville, Helen Caldwell Rogers of Lake Wylie, Mary Caldwell Collins of Sherrills Ford and his special friend Mary who brought much joy and happiness into his life</p> <p>In 1964 Bill joined the Army National Guard and served until May 1968 when he joined the Navy and served in the Pacific for two years. Bill was a proud veteran who cherished his time spent in the military.&nbsp; He was proud to wear his Navy hat and share his naval experiences.</p> <p>Bill`s work career involved three years at Celanese as a service man working in the chemical department. He spent over thirty years working for Siemens working a crane, building turbines and as a machine operator.</p> <p>Bill obtained an associate degree from Kings College with a concentration in technology. He loved a challenge and would dedicate himself to master the skills necessary to accomplish the task. He became a self-taught electrician and woodworker as well as an avid hunter and fisherman.</p> <p>People who knew Bill would tell you that he was a gentle person who was a blessing to others. He was a Shriner who spent many hours helping the least, last and lost especially at the Shrine Hospital helping the children. Every year Bill would volunteer to help make the annual Shrine Bowl Football game a success. He was also a member of the Philanthropic Lodge No. 32 of York. A deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in York. One of Bill&#39;s proudest achievements was when he worked to become an Eagle Scout.</p> <p>The funeral will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church of York with Reverend Nick Setzer officiating.&nbsp; The burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC.&nbsp; The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the burial.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice (Agape Care) of York County, South Carolina, Hospice (Agape Care) of Gaston County, North Carolina and the Shriners Hospital in Greenville, SC</p> <p>The family appreciated the care given to Bill by the staff at Chester Nursing Care.</p> <p>Online condolences may be made to the family at www.brattonfuneralhome.com.</p> <p>Bratton Funeral Home of York, SC is serving the Caldwell family.</p>
