Obituary

Mr. Paul Roger Lee Turner, the son of the Reverend Jacob Turner and Bessie Lou Payne Turner, was born June 16, 1936, in Franklin, Kentucky.  He was the fifth eldest child of nine, who all preceded him in death. 

The family moved and settled in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1941.  As a small child he worked at a bowling alley.  There he found the love of the sport with a bowling average of 255 and as an adult being on several teams.  He graduated from Crispus Attucks High School, where he loved Mathematice, was involved in ROTC, and other  activities.

 In 1957, he met Iva Z Simmons at Weir Cook Airport, where they both worked.  They married in 1958, and their union was blessed with four children, Paula Kim, Michelle Andrea, Derek Dior, and Mario Andretti.

 Paul owned a dump truck business called Turner's Trucking.  He sold his dump truck business and became a philanthropist and later retired as a Sky Cap from Indianapolis Airport.  He loved bowling, football, basketball, fishing, other various sports, western series, and movies.  He enjoyed the simple life of hanging out with his son, grandchildren, and family members.  He professed the Lord  Jesus and attended various churches.

Mr. Paul Roger Lee Turner departed this earthly life on Tuesday April 12. 2022, at the age of 85 years.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Z.; eldest son, Derek D., and siblings, James, Ella, Eunice, Willie, Saul, JoAnne, Jean, and Michael.

He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Mario (Michele) Turner; daughters,  Paula K. Turner and Michelle (Jodie) Kirby; grandchildren, Dr. Melanie (Richard) Hayes, Alexis (Christopher) Fortier, Ms. Jordan Turner, Zachary Turner, Ms. Sydnie Blair, and twins, Ariana and Gabriele Turner; step-grandchildren, Charles Kirby, Jody (Anthony) Williams, and Andre' Williams; five great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; seven step-great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
