Vern attended Floyd High School where he set his eye on Norma and started to date her at age 14. From high school on, Norma was the love of Vern’s life and for 65 years as his wife. Vern played center on the basketball team and Norma, on the cheerleading squad, was his cheerleader then and throughout the rest of their days together. Vern excelled in high school and married his high school sweetheart on October 27, 1956 after he completed his engineering degree at MSOE. Vern started his career as an engineer at Schield Bantam and then worked at Chamberlain in several locations, including Waverly Iowa, Glen Allen Illinois and Monroe Georgia. Vern was thereafter employed by the Tonka Toy Corporation located in Mound, Minnesota. Vern then worked as VP of Research and Development for numerous recreational vehicle companies including Coachman, Honey and Vyguest. Late in his career, Vern and Norma organized Product Spectrum International (PSI) which created and distributed a wide variety of products internationally including recreational vehicles and panelized structures. Vern regularly attended the United Methodist Church from his youth on and was attending Shepard of the Hills UMC at the time he went to be with his Lord, Jesus. Vern loved his Lord and Savior and because of this love, was able to love his family and friends well. In addition to leaving his wife, Norma, Vern left three children: Debra, Vaughn and Steve, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Vern is also survived by his sister, Marge, who recently lost her husband, Les, on March 20, 2022. Please pray for Marge at this time as well. Vern was predeceased by his parents Floyd and Mabel Wamsley as well as his son, Gregory Allen Wamsley.
