John “Jack” Frederick Marcinko, age 82, of Dover, NJ, passed away April 9, 2022, in his home surrounded by family.
Jack Marcinko was born in March 1940 in Philipsburg, PA. He served in the US Army as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. He worked at LE Carpenter in Wharton for 25 years and retired from Whitlock Packaging.
Jack Marcinko is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maria Marcinko; two sons, John and Mark Marcinko; daughter-in-law Erica Marcinko; and grandson Justin. He is preceded in death by his twin sister Judy Squire and his brother Billy Marcinko.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman who belonged to the Middle Valley Gun Club for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting and fly-fishing with his sons and hikes in the woods. After retirement Jack became a master bargain hunter, often discovering amazing furniture deals for his daughter-in-law. He also spent his retirement years fixing anything that needed repair: broken snowblowers, lawnmowers, washing machines, chainsaws - if it had moving parts, Jack with his mechanical mind could find a way to make it work again.
Jack spent his later years visiting with his precocious grandson with whom he spent hours discussing “life stuff” as they put it, and contributing weekly to Justin’s Hot Wheels collection.
Jack had a wonderful sense of humor and his brusque delivery often belied his generosity and compassion. He loved animals and wildlife and never met a squirrel or a bird he didn’t feed. He will be missed dearly.
Funeral arrangements were made by Bermingham Funeral Home and the service will be held Saturday,April 16, 2022 at 11am at Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover, NJ.
