Dorothy Estella Morse Obituary

Dorothy E. MorseBurlington Flats-Dorothy Estella Morse, 79, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, January 16, 2022, at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital with loved ones by her side. Dorothy was born on April 20, 1942, in the Town of Madison, the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Sessions) Denney. She was raised in Brookfield and attended Brookfield Central School. Dorothy married Wayne Kenneth Morse in Rome, NY in 1960. They started their family in Brookfield, New York, later moved to Rhode Island for Wayne's naval career, and remained there until 1976 when they returned to the area. Following Wayne's passing in 2003, Dorothy resided at their home in Burlington Flats. She had a fondness for word puzzles and watching television, especially British comedies. An excellent seamstress, Dorothy always had a sewing project, and loved to make clothing items for family members. She could often be seen sewing pajama pants for her grandkids, and as she got older, they learned to always check for pins when she was done! As an excellent baker, the aroma of her home when baking was as wonderful as the baked treats she prepared for family and friends. She was known to so many as simply," mom". She would open her home to those that were less fortunate, and would provide a loving and nurturing environment. Her assistance and guidance provided these children better lives that lasted long into adulthood. Dorothy was a member of the Brookfield Seventh Day Baptist Church. Her loving nature will forever be cherished by all the souls she touched. Dorothy is survived by her son, David (Renee) Morse of New Berlin ; daughter Lorann (Walter) Morse-Flores of Edmeston; son-in-law, Gene Lum of Fort Edward; and daughter-in-law, Debra Morse of West Winfield; her grandchildren, Sarah (Keith) Allen, Heather Manwarren, Miranda Lum, Rachel Lum, Ryan Morse, Brandon Morse, and Courtney Morse. Beloved Great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan, Alyssa, Isaac, Melody, Temperance, and Jordan. Even one great-great grandchild, Bentley. She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Ostrander and Rosaline Yager, and several nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved dearly. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years; her children, Beverly, Lynn, and Patrick; and her siblings, Carol McAllister and Allan Denney. She spoke often and fondly of the loved ones she had lost, keeping their memories alive. Funeral service for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 1 PM, at the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield, with Rev, Jay Henderson, Pastor, of the Burlington Flats Baptist Church, officiating. Spring interment will be in Brookfield Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home, 10426 Church Street, from 11:30 AM until 1 PM, prior to the service.
