Jerrold A. Burch Sr.Brookfield-Jerrold A. "Jerry" Burch Sr., 88, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, with his wife Hazel, and loving family by his side.He was born in Bridgewater on April 18, 1933, the son of the late Lester and Anna Wheeler Burch. He was raised on the family farm in Leonardsville. He attended Leonardsville School, and later graduated from Brookfield High School. Jerry was a proud Air Force Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. On May 31, 1958, at the Leonardsville Church, Jerry married the love of his life, Hazel Robinson. Jerry's life-long work career spanned 40 years with O.W. Hubbell & Sons. His position as foreman, required him to work safety guard rail projects in many states. When he was at home, Jerry proudly served his community as a volunteer fireman for the Brookfield Fire Department, and was a member and supporter of the Johnson Rogers American Legion Post 1492. He was also a member of the former Brookfield Odd Fellows, a member of the Rolling Antiquer's Old Car Club of Norwich and a member of the Laborer's Union 157. He made plenty of special moments with Hazel at their winter home in Florida. Jerry loved to camp, enjoyed snowmobiling, and watching the local sports teams. Most of all, he loved his family, and anytime that they could gather together. He was always the life of the party, and famous for his one-liners. Moreover, Jerry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Hazel; his children, Anna (Bernie) Hughes, Amy (Doug) Lewis and Jeremy (Jodie Stempien) Burch; his beloved grandchildren, Jenna (Andrew) O'Neill, Jillian Hughes, Connor Lewis, and Austin Burch; his sisters-in-law, Janith Burch and Sharon Robinson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his infant son Jerrold Jr.; his brother Robert Burch; his sisters Betty Zimmerman and Janice Risley; his brother-in-law John Robinson; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Abe Cowen. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Friday, August 20, at 5 PM at the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 3-5 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Leonardsville Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Brookfield.
