Obituary

Glenn E. White, 77, of Shapleigh passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Bella Point Assisted Living in Fryeburg.

He was born on June 30, 1945, to Norman and Hazel (Pray) White in Sanford.  He grew up on White’s Dairy Farm in Shapleigh and attended Sanford Schools.

Growing up and working on his family farm, he was milking cows from the age of four years old.  He continued in the family business when it became White’s Logging and he drove logging trucks for many years.

Glenn enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife to Europe and many places in the U.S.  He especially loved his trips to Germany and Wales.

When he wasn’t traveling, he thoroughly enjoyed his home life, being with his family.  He was great at growing and nurturing plants.  He was fascinated by seeds and how such small things could grow into all sorts of food and flowers.  He also loved the mountains and animals. Glenn enjoyed flying with his son in law. He even took the yoke and flew the plane himself. He was a natural with machines.

Glenn was a wonderful and supportive father and husband.

Glenn was an old farmer with a thick Maine accent and as any farmer would know, if you visit a friend, you go straight to the barn before you go to the house because that’s where farmers are, with the animals.

He is preceded in death by his son, Glenn White Jr.

Survivors include his lovely wife of 37 years, Colleen White of Shapleigh, his children Hollie Siterly and her husband Nathan of Freemont, NH, Chena Mason of Shapleigh, Catherine Pomeroy and her husband Andrew of North Berwick, Kevin White and his wife April of Haverhill, MA, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson, brothers Allen White and David White, both of Shapleigh sister Elaine Kief of FL, and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday April 18, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, at 10:00 also at Carll- Heald & Black Funeral Home with a burial immediately following at Hillside Cemetery in North Berwick.

Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
