George O. Smith Obituary

George Oscar Smith, 81 of Danby, passed away April 11, 2022. George was married to his wife of over 50 years Jacquelyn Smith (predeceased). He is survived by his son George Smith ll, Joann Riley, Bonnie Compton, Betty Poole and Rhonda Glennon (predeceased). They were blessed with 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was the youngest of nine children and born on Turkey Hill in 1940. George was a teamster in Ithaca for several years. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Danby Pirates Club.
Family was very important to both he and his wife and they extended their love and home to foster children as well. George always had a smile on his face and was a warm and humble man who helped many people in his lifetime. If you were lucky enough to have known him then you witnessed his love and warmth firsthand. 
In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchild, friend or walk in the woods for a moment, an hour or a day. Time waits for no one.
Calling hours are at Bangs Funeral Home 209 W. Green Street on Thursday April 14 from 12-1 pm with a private funeral ceremony immediately following.
