James Edward Morrison Obituary

A service celebrating the life of James “Jimmy” Edward Morrison, Jr. will be held 11 AM Saturday at the Rivercrest Chapel & Event Center in Bixby. Jimmy passed away unexpectedly in an accident Sunday, April 10, 2022 near Rose, Oklahoma. He was 52 years old.
Jimmy was the son of James and Jeanne (Bonner) Morrison. He was born August 21, 1969, in Tulsa. Jimmy grew up in Mannford, Oklahoma and spent a lot of time on his grandparent’s farm near West Plains, Missouri. He attended school at Booker T. Washington while always having fun racing muscle cars and chasing girls with his buddies at the midnight drags in Tulsa.

Cindy Rowley came into Jimmy’s life in 1996 and became the love of his life. They were introduced by Jimmy’s cousin who worked with Cindy. After turning him down for three months, Cindy finally commenced to a date at the Admiral Drive-In Theatre. They eventually married at Claremore Lake on May 5, 2001, by David Short, Jimmy’s boss at the time.

Claremore was a wonderful community for Jimmy and Cindy to raise their family. Jimmy had a unique relationship with each of his children, however, they would each refer to Jimmy as their best friend! While in Claremore, he owned and operated Jim’s Auto Repair from 2003-2011.

Jimmy began working on automobiles at an early age, helping his uncle Earl keep the fleet running at Tulsa Fruit Company. He recently earned his Master Certification for Diesel Mechanics while employed by Jim Norton Chevrolet. Jimmy had an extensive amount of training and was well respected by many colleagues and apprentices throughout the industry.

Jimmy loved the outdoors. He spent countless hours on his hunting leases in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. He enjoyed fishing at Lake Texoma and Missouri Lake. He loved rock climbing in Jeeps and cruising the highways on his Harley Davidson CVO Street Glide. Always involved in his children’s activities, Jimmy became a professional scorekeeper for the girls’ volleyball teams. He volunteered his time and helped anybody in need. He will be dearly missed by a host of friends and family who will cherish his memory.

Surviving family members include his wife: Cindy Morrison; his children: Coty Ervin, Chris Ervin and his fiancé, Dani, Courtney Ervin and partner, Will, and Autumn Morrison; grandchildren: Knox, Addi, Maddi, and Xander Ervin; and his siblings: Steve, Rhonda, Roger, Bobby, Jonnie, Julie, and Michael Paul.
