Dawn Scrofine-Saunders “Pookie” dedicated her entire life to her husband, three children, family, friends and many pets over the years, and her passion for cooking.
After a nine-month-long battle with stage IV metastatic lung cancer caused by an EGFR genetic mutation, (which was such a shocking diagnosis being as she was a never-smoker and had no prior risk factors) She passed at home on April 8th 2022 surrounded by family and friends. Dawn is now finally able to rest peacefully & will be ready to welcome her loved ones with open arms when their time comes.
Dawn Michele Scrofine met her future husband James Saunders in August of 1984. They became engaged in May of 1985 and were married on May 15th 1987.
When Dawn and James welcomed their first child Karleigh Isabella Scrofine-Saunders in May of 1998, she instantly knew she was destined to be a stay-at-home mom. They welcomed their second and third children in July of 2001, (twins), Vincent Anthony Scrofine-Saunders and Emily Elizabeth Scrofine-Saunders.
She worked with many direct-sales companies such as Tastefully Simple, Avon, Pampered Chef, Thirty-One, WildTree, Youngevity, (among various others), for just over 24 years.
She always prided herself on her ability to work magic in the kitchen, creating fantastical family meals, baked goods, homemade preserves & teaching her children to cook from ages as young as two. If you were to have ever visited their home for a party, there was a 100% chance of "Pookie" showering the kitchen with love, for you to enjoy something to make it's way out.
Dawn is survived by her parents Anthony Scrofine & Patricia Scrofine, her loving Husband of 34 years, James Saunders, her sister Suzanne Scrofine-Darby, her three children Karleigh, Vincent, and Emily Scrofine-Saunders
A Celebration of Life service in her honor will be held at Mastapeter Memorial Home on April 23, 2022 from 2:00PM-4:00PM, with a prayer service at 3:30pm in the memorial home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd Bayville, NJ 08721.
