Sophie Lucarelli

Sophie Slezak Lucarelli, 94, of Rayland, OH, passed away, Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Wheeling Hospital, with her family by her side.

Sophie was born on October 1, 1927, in Piney Fork, OH, to the late Mike and Caroline (Kozub) Slezak.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 60 years, Jerry Lucarelli; her son, Jerry Lucarelli; two brothers, Mike and Andy Slezak and two sisters, Mary Kurtz and Ann Stillwagon.

Sophie loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very kind and easy going with a big heart. However, she was ornery and witty and would say what was on her mind. She loved playing the lottery and was the lottery “Bookie” for the family. Sophie was dearly loved and will be missed greatly!

She is survived by her daughter, Barb (Larry) Deluca, of Rayland; three sons, Donald “Bones” (Patricia) Lucarelli, of Yorkville, OH, Gary “Cubby” (Barbara) Lucarelli, of Adena, OH and Larry (Tina) Lucarelli, of Harrisville, OH; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received to pay tribute to Sophie and celebrate her life on Wednesday, April 13th from 10 am until the time of service of 12 noon, at the Borkoski Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Monogioudis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like for memorial contributions to be made to charity, of your choice, in Sophie’s name.
