<p>Dixie Lee Vigneault Tipton, 77 of Mars Hill, North Carolina, passed away on April 7, 2022 with her family by her side. She was the daughter of Leo Henry and Zelma Barry Vigneault, born on February 2, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in Rocky Hill, CT and graduated from Rocky Hill High School in 1963. Dixie met the love of her life, Harold Tipton and moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina in May of 1981. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Stanley and Bill Meers and brother-in-law, Jack Jason.</p> <p>Her life&rsquo;s memories will always be cherished by her husband, Harold Tipton of 41 loving years; two daughters, Lisa Chesi Anderson (Mark), Sandy Chesi Smith (Earl); two sons, Jeff Tipton of Middletown, CT and Michael Tipton of San Pablo, CA; grandchildren, Katie Reese (Jordan), Cassie Merrill (Niko), Trevor Rice (Rachel), Tori Smith, Chris Tipton, Lisa Tipton (Mike), Tanner Anderson, Brady Anderson (Katie); two sisters, Charlotte Jason of Canterbury, CT and Bonnie Applebee (John) of East Hampton, CT; nephews, Jonathan Applebee (Shawn), Timothy Applebee (Jessica) and Zachary Applebee.</p> <p>Dixie worked at Valley Oil in Portland, CT before moving to NC and she retired from Uniman Mining Corp. in Green Mountain, NC. She served as a Hospice Volunteer for many years and was a member of the Bright Hope Laurel United Methodist Church. Her interests included spending time with her grandchildren and family, cooking, gardening, traveling, cake decorating, NASCAR, UCONN Basketball, dancing and loved a wide variety of music. She had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest.</p> <p>The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Messino Cancer Center and to the staff of Four Seasons Hospice, all of whom took extraordinary care of her. Flowers are appreciated or donations may be made in Dixie&rsquo;s memory to Four Seasons Hospice of 571 South Allen Rd., Flat Rock, NC 28731.</p> <p>A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Bright Hope Laurel United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12 &ndash; 2:00 p.m. Reverends Lisa Hartzog and Jerry Shelton will officiate.</p>

Dixie Lee Vigneault Tipton, 77 of Mars Hill, North Carolina, passed away on April 7, 2022 with her family by her side. She was the daughter of Leo Henry and Zelma Barry Vigneault, born on February 2, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in Rocky Hill, CT and graduated from Rocky Hill High School in 1963.
