Pearl Sharrock Obituary

Pearl Elizabeth Sharrock, age 97, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Broken Bow Health and Rehab. She was born on Friday, October 31, 1924 to Walter Albert and Laura Margaret Hanes Emery in Castleton, Kansas.

Pearl married Thurmon Sharrock on May 29, 1942 in Enid, Oklahoma and shared 65 wonderful years together. Pearl was a stay-at-home mother, like most mothers at the time, who devoted her life to raising five children. It was not an easy life taking care of five children, working long days washing and ironing clothes, cleaning the house, cooking three full meals a day, milking the cows twice a day and working in the garden plus canning fruits and vegetables to provide food for her family. She showed us love by her work. During their retirement years, Pearl and Thurmon loved to go fishing at the local lakes and take rides in the mountains north of Broken Bow.  She was a great cook and when she finally closed the kitchen, the family missed those wonderful meals.  She loved and cherished all her grandchildren.  In her later years, after Thurmon passed Pearl enjoyed having lunch with her friends at the Broken Bow Senior Center where she served as their treasurer and president.  At 93, she was still driving, living at home with her grandsons, Ryan Sharrock and Jackson Sharrock.  Pearl attended the Charity Baptist Church in Broken Bow where her love of the Lord grew each day.  Her love of music led her to attend many local gospel singings, the downtown music scene, and church concerts.  She loved watching travel programs on T.V. Her most enduring characteristic was to not offend anyone.

Pearl is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Charlie Norton; her husband, Thurmon Sharrock; two sons, Cleo Sharrock and Ronnie Sharrock; three brothers, Roy Emery, Howard Emery and Arthur Emery; one sister, Marie Baker; two grandchildren, Little Frankie Bunce and James Usner.

Pearl is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Leland and Judy Sharrock of San Antonio, Texas, and Donald and Beverly Sharrock of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; daughter and son in law, Carol and Johnny Long of Idabel, Oklahoma; daughters in law, Carlene Sharrock of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Kathy Sharrock of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Broken Bow Assembly of God with Brother Jimmy Westbrook and Brother Clint Bray officiating. Interment will follow in the Watson Memorial Cemetery in Oak Hill, Oklahoma. Visitation will be Monday, April 11, 2022 from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Mike Sharrock, David Sharrock, Brandon Sharrock, Ryan Sharrock, Jackson Sharrock and Shannon Long.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Long Jr., Jay Bunce, Cory Sharrock, Kirk Sharrock and Justin Sharrock.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Charity Baptist Church, P.O. Box 522, Broken Bow, Oklahoma, 74728.
