Cleola Theresa Duwa Schneider

Cleola Theresa Duwa Schneider, 92, died Sunday, April 10, 2022 with her daughters by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM, Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with Father Stephen Witt officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 PM to 7 PM at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 PM. Also, visitation will be held 1 hour before Mass in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Church or EveryStep Kavanaugh House (Hospice facility in Des Moines.) Cleola was born September 27, 1929 in Washington County, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Agnes (Bopp) Duwa. On November 13, 1948 Cleola married Dwayne Schneider in Richmond, IA. Cleola and her husband, Dwayne, owned and operated Dwayne’s Radiator and Air Conditioning for 25 years. Cleola was the bookkeeper at their business. Cleola was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of America. Cleola is survived by her two daughters, Betty (William) Hedrick of Urbandale and Bonnie Schneider (Dennis Grigal)) Schneider of St. Paul, MN; five grandchildren, Rene (Scott) Shepard, Stephanie (Laird) Van Dee, Lisa (Kevin) Oelke, Megan Grigal and Paul (Amy) Grigal; fourteen great-grandchildren, William (Maire) Shepard, Matthew Shepard, Katherine Shepard, Victoria (Andrew) Stinson, Oliver Stinson, Isaac Van Dee, Madeline Van Dee, Jolynne Van Dee, Lincoln Van Dee, Bethany Oelke, Nathan Oelke, Kazimer Grigal, Nicolas Grigal and Gabriel Grigal; five siblings, Lucille Duwa and Dolores Krotz, both of Iowa City, Irma (Dennis) Altenhofen of Washington, Dean (Connie) Duwa of Answorth and Janet (Merlin) Hagie of Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Cleola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dwayne in 2001; siblings, Dale, Clifford, Velma Waldschmidt, Vera Gingerich, Elaine Lee, and Dwayne’s siblings.
