Wendell Hanson

Wendell E. Hanson, the son of Lester and Vivian (Bartleman) Hanson, was born March 15th, 1941, in Estherville, Iowa. Wendell departed this life at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville on Friday, April 8th, 2022, at the age of 81 years.<br><br>Wendell grew up in Estherville and received his education in the Estherville schools. On September 2, 1962, he was united in marriage to Karen Sampson at the Palestine Lutheran Church near Dolliver, IA. <br><br>Wendell worked for Motor Inn, Inc. in Estherville for 38 years serving as Service Manager for 31 years before retiring in 1999. Following his retirement, he continued to drive cars for Motor Inn for another 13 years.<br><br>He was a confirmed and active member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.<br><br>Wendell always enjoyed his lawn work and was proud when he received the Yard of the Month award. Wendell also enjoyed fishing and visiting different casinos. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and loved showing off the tricks his favorite cat “Charlie” could do.<br><br>Left to cherish Wendell’s memory are his wife, Karen, children, Todd (Cyndi) Hanson, Michelle (Gary) Jacobson, and Mark (Robynn) Hanson. Grandchildren, Jordan (Colin) Omvig, Taylar (Dylan) Sievert, Trey Jacobson, Karley Hanson, Brady Hanson, and Clay Hanson. Great Grandchildren Maxtyn and Coby Fonken, Emery Sievert, and Taylee Omvig. Siblings, Marvin (Patty) Hanson, Shirley Kittleson, Ron (Connie) Hanson, Charlotte (Mike) Martin, Sisters-in-law Jeanne Hanson and Sandra Hanson, and several nieces and nephews. (Also, Charlie who misses sitting in his lap.)<br><br>Preceding Wendell in death are his parents: brother Alan and twin brother Wayne. Grandson, Coleton Hanson, brother-in-law Gilbert Kittleson, nephew Greg Kittleson, and best friend, Dale Marriott.<br>
