Eunice M. Rosin Shawano, Wisconsin Obituary

Eunice M. Rosin

Eunice M. Rosin, age 93 of Shawano, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, April 7, 2022, at The Cottages in Shawano.

Eunice was born at home in Emma, Missouri on July 27, 1928, to Edwin and Dorathea (Jansen) Schelp. She was baptized at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Emma, MO. She grew up to know her Lord and Savior while attending kindergarten through eighth grade at Holy Cross Lutheran School. Eunice then attended Concordia High School where she graduated with the Class of 1945. Always good with numbers, Eunice went on to work as a bookkeeper at Emma and Sweet Springs Coop which her father and uncle managed.

Eunice met Walter Rosin while he was serving his vicarage at St. Paul’s College in Concordia, MO. Shortly thereafter they became engaged and on June 7, 1953, they were married at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Emma, MO. For the next ten years she served as the pastor’s wife at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellisville MO. In 1963, Eunice and Walt moved to Seward, Nebraska where Walt served as a professor and Eunice became deeply involved in the college’s drama department. There she designed and sewed all the intricate costumes for many productions. Eunice was known for her skills in designing her own costumes and creating her own patterns. She was an incredibly talented seamstress.

Moving back to St. Paul’s College in Concordia, MO with Walt, Eunice took on the demanding job of wife to the college president, planning and hosting many private and public events from 1971 to 1980. During that time, she attended Junior College and ran the college bookstore as well. While there, Walt and Eunice were affectionately known as “Dad” and “Mom” to all the students on campus.

In 1980, the couple pulled up roots once again and moved to St. Louis, MO where Walt took a new position with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Eunice, in turn, began a new career at Ellisville Bank and worked her way up through many mergers to a leadership position at Boatman’s Bank where she served as bank manager until her retirement.

In 1999, the couple moved to Shawano where they unselfishly gave much of their time to helping with their grandchildren following the early death of their son-in-law. Eunice was actively involved in Shawano’s Women’s Club where she served as treasurer for eleven years. She remained active with the club until she was no longer capable of attending. In 2018, Eunice and Walt moved to The Cottages where they lived out their days. Eunice thoroughly enjoyed her time there and spoke fondly of many of her caregivers.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Susan (Ken) Longmire of Shawano, Mary (Ralph) Gabrielson of Sugar Grove, IL, and Mike (Rachel) Rosin of Ft. Wayne, IN; ten grandchildren, Ben (Meghan) Vogel of North Royalton, OH, Michael Gabrielson of Sugar Grove, IL, Paul (Kayla) Rosin of Elkhart, IN, Lauren Robinson of Montgomery, IL, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Forney of Mersailles, IL, Matt (Ashley) Gabrielson of Yorkville, IL, Kate Vogel of Shawano, Kristin Gabrielson of Sugar Grove, IL, Marc(Christina) Rosin of Swartz Creek, MI, and Aaron Rosin (Samantha) of Munster, IN; and twelve great-grandchildren, Samantha, Isaiah, Jonah, Mariette, Eli, Ezekiel, Griffin, Noah, Malachi, Luka, Easton, and Lukas. She is further survived by her siblings, Marian (Norbert) Pierson of Columbia, MO, Tom (Susy) Schelp of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Jolene (Roger) Atkinson of Lee’s Summit, MO. Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Rosin; her son, Mark Steven Rosin; her son-in-law, Pastor Jonathan Vogel of Shawano; her parents, Edwin and Dora Schelp; and her siblings, Alleen Andrick and Bud Schelp.

Eunice was full of life and enjoyed having fun all her days. Not a day went by where she did not make someone laugh and smile! Eunice was such a generous, giving person, always thinking of ways to help others. She lived by example and kept Jesus close to her heart. She truly was a blessing and a gem to all who knew her.

A funeral service for Eunice M. Rosin will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Mark Drengler and Eunice’s grandson, Rev. Ben Vogel, will officiate. I was very happy to meet Eunice a few years ago at a Shawano Woman's Club meeting. She loved the SWC Christmas Parties and annual SWC Fashion Shows. She loved venison sticks and I would bring her a pack from time to time. Everyone will miss her great smile.
