Barry Robert Barkman, 73, of Snake Spring Valley passed away on April 7, 2022 after a long fight with cancer and is now in the glory of heaven.

Barry was born on September 13, 1948 in Everett, Pennsylvania; son of the late Robert and Marcella Barkman. Barry grew up with his five siblings on their family farm in Breezewood, Pennsylvania. Barry graduated from Everett High School, Class of 1966.

Barry married Brenda Lee (Caro) Barkman on January 31, 1970. The two were united in marriage for fifty-two years. They were blessed with four sons: Spence married to Angela (Howsare); Ryan married to Michele (Koontz); Matthew married to Emily (Clark); and Trent married to Amanda (Young).

One of Barry’s greatest joys was spending time with his eight grandchildren; Isaac, Asah, Claire, Reagan, Decklan, Canon, Jayden and Casen.  In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, he is survived by siblings Peggy, Bill, Eric, Nathan and Lance.

Barry spent most of his life dedicated to farming, especially the farm he and his wife built in Snake Spring Valley. Later in life he enjoyed driving his freight truck hauling steel and corn.  He also enjoyed hunting and taking his 1968 Chevelle SS for joy rides.

Friends and Family will be received on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 3-7:00 P.M. and Tuesday 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service at the funeral home. 

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in The Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537 with Pastor David Grimes officiating.

Burial will be held at Ritchey Cemetery.
