Maxine Barber Bouckville – Maxine Alene Rice Tayntor Barber, 105, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Hamilton’s Community Memorial Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 16, 1917 in Sangerfield, N.Y., the daughter of Harry and Rosa Jilson Rice. Maxine graduated from Waterville High School in 1933. In 1937 Maxine united in marriage with William Tayntor, who predeceased her in 1992. In 1955 Maxine entered into marriage with her second husband, Stewart Barber, who also predeceased her in 2003. Maxine found much enjoyment in feeding the birds and squirrels, as well as working in her flower garden. She also enjoyed helping on the family farm with her husband and son, giving much of her love to the calves and other animals. Even at the age of 104 Maxine was able to mow her own lawn and driver her car to the family farm. Maxine is survived by her son Leon Tayntor, a niece Wenda, a cousin Stewart and Diana Lyman, and several neighbors and friends. Maxine was especially thankful for all of those that were there to help her and for their devoted friendship. She is predeceased by her husbands, William Tayntor and Stewart Barber. In keeping with Maxine’s wishes, at this time there will be no services or calling hours at this time.
