Gerald Allen Nyland, age 69 of Middleville, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2022. Gerald was born on October 10, 1952, in Cadillac, Michigan to Walter and Lizziebell (Shoop) Nyland. Jerry enjoyed a long and varied career in the mechanical trades and building maintenance, and immediately preceding his retirement, he served as the Physical Plant Director at Muskegon Community College. Jerry enjoyed numerous hobbies, including working outdoors in his garden, collecting toy tractors, and more recently, collecting sap and making his own maple syrup. Most of all, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Gayle (Bomers) Nyland; daughters: Elise (Richard) Love, Emily (Mitchell) Sydloski; grandchildren: William, Claire, Caleb, Wyatt, and Cora; siblings: Alice Herweyer, Marshall Nyland; sister-in-law, Sandy Nyland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Robert Nyland, Helen Moran, William Nyland, Charles Nyland, and Clarabell Davis. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Beeler-Gores Funeral Home where Jerry’s funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM with Pastor Mike McCrumb officiating.
