<p>Richard (Dick) V. Thompson, 77, resident of Faywood passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Mimbres Memorial Hospital.</p> <p>A graveside service will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 at 11 o&rsquo;clock in the morning at the Walking X Ranch on Dwyer Rd.</p> <p>Richard was born July 2, 1944 in Silver City, NM to Vernon and Mary (Gureton) Thompson. &ldquo;Dicky&rdquo;, as he was more commonly referred to, was an extremely hard-working man who was family focused. He worked for Chino Mine in Santa Rita, NM for 38 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator and when he wasn&rsquo;t at the mine he was ranching. Dicky also served as a volunteer fireman for 40 years with the Lower Mimbres Fire Department as an Assistant Fire Chief. He was a member of the Mimbres Masonic Lodge #10.</p> <p>He is survived by his beloved wife, Jan B. Thompson of the home; his children, Janelda T. Richardson &amp; husband, Rick Richardson and Matthew R. Thompson &amp; wife, Amber D. Thompson both of Las Cruces; as well as his grandchildren, Makayla Richardson Grant &amp; husband, Rhett B. Grant and Lawrence A. Richardson.</p> <p>Dicky was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Mary Thompson.</p>

Richard was born July 2, 1944 in Silver City, NM to Vernon and Mary (Gureton) Thompson. “Dicky”, as he was more commonly referred to, was an extremely hard-working man who was family focused.
