Constance A Dunnell Obituary

Constance “Connie” Dunnell

1-15-1938 — 4-5-2022

Connie “Nana” Dunnell passed away on April 5, 2022 with cherished loved ones by her side.  A long-time resident of Milton, Massachusetts and recent resident of Wareham, Massachusetts, Connie is predeceased by her loving and adoring husband, James “Grumpy” Dunnell of Milton, Massachusetts.

Connie is survived by her three children, John White of Hull, Massachusetts, Wendy Spinney and her husband Robert of Middleborough, Massachusetts, and Carolyn Fahey and her husband Laurence of Middleborough, Massachusetts. She also leaves her grandchildren, Amanda McGonigle and her husband Michael of East Falmouth, Massachusetts, Rachel Conner and her husband Dustin of Carver, Massachusetts, and Morgan Benedetti of Hanson, Massachusetts.

Her greatest joys were her great-grandchildren, Abigail Kleber of Falmouth, Aiden Conner of Carver, Zachary McGonigle of Falmouth, and Ellie Conner of Carver.  But - if you asked her, her FAVORITE was Maxine, the tiny Yorkshire terrier she shared with Grumpy.

Connie was a woman of faith - not faith in the religious sense - but faith in the more general sense.  She had faith in her family, she had faith in the Lottery, and she had faith in a Higher Power who kept her sober for 30 years.  Connie served VA Boston for over twenty years, including serving as VISN-1 Revenue Manager for CPAC.

She was simple and complex at the same time.  She was simple in that she enjoyed puttering in her garden, playing cards with friends, and being with family - those simple things made her happy.  She was complex in that, whoever got her for the Christmas Gift Exchange, never knew what to get for her.

She was feisty, she was fiercely loyal, and she was loving. She went by many names, but her favorite - by far - was “Nan”.  Her passing will leave a void that nothing can replace, and she will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her, or calling her family.

We know that we couldn’t keep her forever, but if she cannot be with us, being reunited with Grumpy is the only next right thing.
